Galileo Galilei, the great astronomer and man of science, he spent in Florence most of his existence. Many places bear witness to its ties with the city and the Medici family.
Where once there was the Museum of the History of Science (since 1930), there is the Museum of Galileo dedicated to him today. Inside are objects and instruments covering a time span ranging from the Renaissance to the nineteenth century. In addition to the telescopes of the famous scientist, the museum also preserves the thermoscope, military geometric compass, the inclined plane and a “primitive” microscope.
The tour is organized with the visit of the Galileo Museum, where you can see the section dedicated to him with the original instruments used by him, and the Santa Croce Basilica, where he was buried.
The tour lasts about 3 hours – No Sunday morning and Tuesday afternoon to closure of places of visit.
